My research interests lie in risk and protective factors affecting the mental health of vulnerable children and adolescents, particularly those who have experienced adversity. I am mainly interested in emotion regulation and social interactions as important protective factors. These factors are among those trained in the resilience promoting skills-training START NOW.
My dissertation project aims to adapt this skills-training to an adolescent refugee population and test its effectiveness in reducing depressive symptoms and increasing resilience. Ultimately, I hope to contribute to improving mental health care for refugees and make START NOW Adapted widely available to other refugee populations in the future.
Additionally, my research focuses on the relationship between facial emotion recognition biases and mental health, as well as their implications for clinical interventions.
